Long Tall Cobra Box

The Tok CD Release Party was a huge success. Congrats to Matt and Bryan for an awesome show and a fabulous following. Below is the table of goodies available for purchase at the show. My talents were projected on the CD and tshirt art.

Here is tok in action. Check out their website for their sound. "I'm a railroad spike!"

The Votes Are In

I am a Moderate and so I love this poster because it brings both sides together. The votes are in and Obama is our new president. Say what you will about Obama, but I really heart good design and not only did designers brand him as an identity but they did it beautifully. Click here to see some cool posters promoting our new president elect.

It looks like everyone is happy with our executive decision for the election, but I am truely disappointed on a local level. While I'm very excited about the Clean Energy Initiative passed, the Festus schools Bills "kids 1 & 2" did not pass which will prevent the rebuilding of the very overcrowded high school. I guess they will have to resort to more trailers. no matter how unattractive and cramped they are.

Also California's prop 8 was passed which will ban gay marriage. This is 2008 people, no more hate!

Now that i've said my piece,
have the best day ever!

Halloween

This was my Costume. I was Foreigner's Juke Box Hero! All painted by Muah. A big hit with the friends who love the band. It was really a present to you, Griz. I also played music and had a coin slot for requests. It was burned ceremoniously on November 1st at the end of the night at another party. Tear.

This was the pumpkin I carved...with an Xacto Knife! Those cheap carving tools wouldn't do what I wanted for the teeth so I had to resort to other sources. But it looked pretty cool when it was lit up. The funny thing was that as halloween passed and the pumpkin began to wither away, it started to look like an old person who was becoming toothless.

Then this was me at work on halloween. I  had brought little pumpkins for everyone at work at the beginning of October and on Friday, I carved mine into a little baby face. cute.

Cardinals Billboard

So I already really liked the St. Louis Cardinals new design campaign. The Billboards, the ticket design, the big screen artwork, the commercials, programs and everything...and then I saw this billboard on Hanley by my house. Now I am absolutely in love with it! And with bias and love for the Cardinals aside, this is probably the coolest piece of advertising I have ever seen - well maybe there is still a little bias there...and maybe a little jealousy. I mean who is this guy?

I wish I were him.
haha.

The countdown to the pitchers report has commenced.

Challenge!

I recently made a mizzou dress to wear at tailgates. Pictures to come. (Just because I watch project runway, I think I can do that stuff...we'll see). But then I came across this dress skirt and I think its a simple enough pattern that I could replicate it. Stay tuned to see if I can pull it off. Have a good one!

Ashley Scroggins...Art Director!

New Job. This Post is a couple weeks late since I've been working here for almost a month now, but I wanted to get settled before I posted anything. Things are going pretty fabulous. The work is pretty steady, the people are hilarious, and I love my office. Yes, I have my own office...with a window (actually a couple of windows!). We're located in downtown St. Charles on the Main St. So my view out the window is of the Katy trail and the Missouri River. Its kind of relaxing to be able to look at that all day. And Downtown St Charles is so cute. I'm lovin' it!

Tok Album Release

Long Tall Cobra Box is here! The album is printed and packaged and ready for distribution. It was a long time coming, but its finally here. The design is representative of a old timey cigar box and the cd is a paint can lid that I wrote on and scanned in. This project was so much fun and freeing to work on. If you would like to check out Tok or even purchase Long Tall Cobra Box, click here.

Tshirt designs to come and also information about the album release party will be posted when it is made available :)

Continuing Education

Signed up for a Dreamweaver refresher course through Forest Park Community College to kind of get back in the mood for web design . Learned a couple of tricks and shortcuts as well as guided myself through things I may have already known and just needed a little follow-through. It was pretty helpful. I just didn't like the fact it was on a PC. Mac is the way to go, people.

I'm just excited to try this stuff out.

Anywho, I also signed up for a Flash class but thats in a couple of weeks. I'll be updating this thing with some projects I've been working on as of late. Some pretty crafty things and then also some graphics that I created for freelance.

They will be posted soon.

Have the best day ever!

MLA 2009 Identity

Logo Design for the 2009 Missouri Libraries Association Conference. This is the approved design and will be displayed on tshirts, programs, place cards, and more. Hopefully I'll have some pictures when the time comes and this stuff gets printed.

Quotes from the client:
"The theme is displayed on T-shirts, polo shirts, the web and our conference program booklet. I think the design will capture the conference perfectly!"
Judy Maseles

"What I love about it is that it is clear, crisp, easy to read and sends the message so beautifully."
June L. DeWeese
Head of Access Services Ellis Library

mmmm...I love the praise...

STL Floral Art Design Show

So the art museum has this little show where florists from around the saint louis area are given a random work of art to inspire a dazzling floral design. It was actually a lot more interesting than it sounds. The stuff in the modern art section were by far the most fun. Although, I did favor one done by Degas – not pictured :(

The one above was the floral design based off of Room 112 by Philip Guston. Oh you crazy modernists.

so its your 50th anniversary

Just a little invite I constructed for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary party. I finally got one of the fruits of my labor from my mother. ikes. did she choose that font? ha.

Happy St. Margaret's Day!

mmm...Gooey Butter Cookies!

So In college, me and my friend Alicia made up a Holiday to fill in the void between st. valentine's day and st. patrick's day. Its signature color: yellow! Hence yellow cookies (yellow decor, yellow beer, and very well a yellow wardrobe). If one did not possess the color of margaret on this lovely day, the punishment is slappage on the rear.

This holiday commences on the first saturday of march.

oh happy day.

Pop's Birthday!

So my pop turned 49 this weekend. My parents are so young, but I joke with him about almost being 50. So I got him a box of his fave Big cheeze-its, 2 tall boy bud lights, and a bottle of Bayer heart protection pills. haha. He's a huge hunting buff, so thats where the card comes into play.

love you pop.
happy birthday.

Happy Valentine's Day!

In the spirit of valentines and lovers everywhere, i present you a drawing that i sketched up in high school and only just recently retrieved from home to frame and put in my new house. I miss art classes a bit and I know you can say to me "well you want to draw, then just sit down and do it." but that actually means to take the time to sit down and do it, but who knows. I'm working on my organizational skills, so maybe you'll be seeing some new stuff from me in the the next few weeks are that computer produced. yay.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! (and that means adrienne, i guess)

VFW Coin Design

Blurry I know. But my camera was acting up. My pop asked me to assist in a coin design for a new post of the AMVETS he helped organize in Festus. This was the finished product. He seemed pleased. haha.

tshirt fun

So i haven't updated in awhile. been a little preoccupied with life, moving into my new apartment, and work. So I may be posting things a little late. these in particular are from xmas. The mizzou tshirt was for my boyfriend who is the most anti-kansas person i've ever met. The second tshirt design, the mike rowe shirt, is for my friend adrienne who is a very big fan of the show dirty jobs and Mike Rowe in general (check him out on youtube from when he used to host QVC – hilarious). Just thought she would appreciate it. Other gifts were given without pictures

:( sorry
